    Aluminun Rad

    hey all,

    My car has been running great.  been daily driving it for a couple months now.  I've got a small list of things I want to fix/upgrade on it.  So far my temps have not left the middle marks on the stock temp gauge.  but its starting to get to the right of the middle.  Not to the hot line yet.  I was thinking with July and August coming that it will get hotter and I'm not sure if what I have:

    new copper 3 row rad, all new hoses, electric fan that comes on by sensor or I can flip on to run manually

    will do the trick.  Should I be looking at an aluminum rad? 

    I was also thinking about building my own fan shrowd.  Any good steps on how to do that?  I've got a good sized piece of sheet metal that would work.

    Oh and I do have a flex fan on the shelf incase the electric ever goes bad.

    Just wondering if the alum rad is the next upgrade and if there is a good product for not so much money.  Wish I had gotten one of MustangSteve's when he was selling them.

    richard, aluminum radiators can be had for under $200!  Not bad for the good it can do.  As far as the ones MS use to sell, they are still available just google Aluminum Radiators, he just dont sell them anymore.  Heck I'll even sell one

    Rich..........get that timing modified and temp will be less!  (:
    You won't need that shroud with an electric fan......most of them come with their own shroud.
    WetterWater suppose to drop temp by 30* guranteed!

    Want a metal shroud??
    Go to your local HVAC ducting maker. Give him the dimensions of what you want, and where and what size hole you want. He can prolly bend it up in aluminum easily.
    Remember that the lip around the fan & shrouud fan hole can be a band of aluminum sheet metal attached with angle brackets pop-riveted on.

    Sorry 6s6 that water wetter stuff ain't all it's proported to be, at least in my experience.
