GT500 Brembo brakes on 1968 Mustang

Good day everyone,

I have been looking at using a kit from Ford Racing, kit M2300S, to install the 14" Brembo GT500 brakes onto a 1968 Mustang drum spindle using the Mustang Steve bracket kit for the s197 brakes.

I know the bracket say its for the 13.2" GT brakes however, the gt500 brakes bolt on the same way using the same spindle as the GT.  So all things aside, the bracket kit should not have any issues also mounting the GT500 caliper onto my spindle, correct?

I know getting a wheel to fit is going to be a pain but I want to first make sure the brake portion is nailed down.

Please share any advice or opinions.

You can see here in these instructions from Ford Racing that they install the GT500 brakes onto a GT without any modifications to the way the caliper mounts:

Re: GT500 Brembo brakes on 1968 Mustang

You will have to do some clearance grinding on the GT2008-FT brackets to clear the larger pistons on the Brembo calipers, but they will bolt up with the same offset and bolt pattern.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.
