I bought myself a 1967 Saturday and I am beside myself. I've had fun getting my hands in there and looking around. I've got some adjusting on the carburetor to do, but once I do I'll pull it out of the garage and get some better pictures in the day.

Way to go Mike. Let the good times begin.

It is my first Mustang. I spent some time this evening going through all the stuff that was piled into the car figuring out what to throw away and what to keep. So far I have what I need to do a decent tuneup.

I'm seeing remnants of what looks like Springtime Yellow paint on the front end. Ironically that was the original color of my first Mustang; a '67 coupe as well. It was painted red when I bought it, but the overspray and data plate told the real tale. I ended up sending it to the crusher because it had massive rot that I didn't see at first (I was 14 at the time, so I think its forgivable). But, as I'd already recovered the front seats I simply swapped them into my '67 fastback when I bought it, so parts of it live on.
Good luck!

A word of advice based on experience. Do t throw anything away till its done. As soon as you throw something way you'll need it.

I'll second that .... done that ... even when I knew better. When you think you don't need it ... keep it.

I hear ya! The only stuff I was throwing away was a bunch of loose roofing nails, tons of empty cigarette packages, faded receipts, leaves, wood screws, etc. Anything that looked remotely like it might go on a car got put into my metal cabinet.

Congrats! Are you going to combine it with MS convertible, and make a fastback? I saw a roof on craigslist.... j/k.

Congrats... now to get it bash-ready!

Congrats on the project. I'm sure you know the drill. First order of business is to do a very careful rust evaluation. Check the cowl area, wheel wells, floor pans, engine bay, etc. I hope you don't find much rust. After you get the body in good shape then move on to mechanical. I hope this will be a fun project for you.

Nahhhhhhhhhh....if its a Texas car there may be a little rust on the bottom of the ash tray! The rest will be virgin 67 steel.

Let's have a race. You, MS and Hakan - who can finish their 67 project first? Congrats on the new car - at least you have a shop instead of a garage to work in.....I would have killed for a shop to do my 68 restoration in.

Yeah, but we should include ultrastang and his 68 coupe. That way, at least I won't come in last!

MS or Hakan is going to win that race I'm afraid. Of course MS is retired and has lots of time on his hands. I would figure he'd beat me out. Ron68, it is nice having a shop to work out of. I don't have the funds right now to buy a lift but I'd LOVE to have the lift that MS had up in Ovilla.

I want to thank almcgee for finding this car. I doubt he can get garage points for finding a member a car, but he should. Thanks Al!

Congrats on the 67! Seems we have quite a few guys with 67/68 projects, me included.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
