Re: Magnaflow muffler

I have a pair of MF straight through that I'll make you a good deal on if you are interested.  My hearing range is shot and they sounded crappy to me but others said they sounded great.

I'll check the model and let you know tomorrow if you want.

Re: Magnaflow muffler

I Have headers and MF on my Mustang.  No H Pipe.  They sound great.  Never noticed any drone.  After I installed a 5 speed that brought the sound down at Hwy speeds a lot.  When you hit though its loud!

Re: Magnaflow muffler

In the process of installing their exhaust with X-pipe.  I can say that the kit is very nice looking and appears to be very well engineered.

The JBA headers went on today.  Pricey, but you get what you pay for; they are works of art and fit very well.  One plug is kind of hard to get to, but other than that no real difference in that department.

Hopefully by mid next week she'll be breathing fire again through some fresh pipes.

Re: Magnaflow muffler

I have the same setup with JBA headers and the Magnaflow X-pipe kit. To me, the mufflers were too loud and the drone was uncomfortable at highway speeds. I swapped them out for Dynomax Super Turbos and have been much happier.

It is my anecdotal opinion that the noise/drone is more pronounced in the fastback than it is in the coupe and convertible in the 65/66. Granted, that is based on personal experience with only one of each body style.

Re: Magnaflow muffler

I have Magnaflow SS 'straight through' mufflers, 2.5"/2.5", #11226 w/X-pipe and turndown exhaust tips (at the rear valance).  I do not find the sound annoying.  I do have sound deadener in the interior, and plan to install in the trunk area (fastback) to reduce both road and exhaust noise.
As Jeff in GA indicated, I also believe the fastback (w/fold down seat) are more noisy as the door to the trunk is not shielded by the rear seat padding.

65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.
