Drip rails replace questions

Damn,
What’s the process for replacing drip rails?
(Fastback 65)

I thought it was just a straight forward drill the welds, remove old metal, position new metal, spotweld, seamseal, done!

Apparently not that simple.
In the upper part there’s an extra piece of sheet metal, like flat 28x2 with a 90’ bend all the way...
Can I buy this part somewhere?

What’s the trick?

Re: Drip rails replace questions

Are you talking about the stainless steel two piece part the gasket is glues onto? If it is the part I am thinking you are discussing. DO NOT THROW THE OLD ONE AWAY. They don't make replacements for the 1965s. They do have them for 1966s and newer.

Re: Drip rails replace questions

Stainless questions will probably come after paint!
For stainless I didn’t have the long thin stainless trim but I found it new (not sure how well it will go)
I have bought the foam
I have the original thicker trim
I bought new weatherstripping
I still need to buy the drip rail trim.

But for the moment my problem is onto sheet metal.
I found new drip rails in weld through primer.
We’re trying to remove the existing.
My problem concerns a flat metal part where the trim screws into.
