65-66 Fastback

Good night I am going with a buddy to Scottsdale Arizona to buy a 65-66 fastback. We are flying there and driving back to Houston if it’s as good as they say it is. I will try and document the ride Lol. I have to be back at work on Monday so prayers are needed and appreciated. Anyone on the Forum from that area ? The car is a 347 stroker 4 speed with 3:30 gears yikes we will might be stopping at every gas station on the way back Lol

I hope you have a less eventful trip than Steve and Tim when they picked up a convertible for a friend.
Safe travels.

Re: 65-66 Fastback

Good hunting and good luck, Coupe.  I hope the car is everything the PO advertised.  Is this a car for your buddy or for Felicia?

Re: 65-66 Fastback

Have fun.  If it makes the cut, and the trip, you know it is "Bash ready".

I am aware of 2 forum members in AZ.  Bearcat & KeithP (I believe).  My brother (who attended the Montrose Bash) lives in Phoenix.  Lemme know what you think you might need.

Be sure to look at the date code on the tires.  Quite a few years ago I drove my in-laws car back from Florida.  Tires looked perfect, passed the mechanics screen test, but didn't make 10 minutes on the highway.

Re: 65-66 Fastback

Just a tip someone passed on to me.  Make sure you get a classic car insurance w/ extended towing coverage.  Could save you a fortune if it breaks down in the middle of the trip.

Well, you gotta go look at them.  Glad they found out it wasn't what they wanted before they committed.

Re: 65-66 Fastback

I once drove from LA to Phoenix to look at a 65 fast back that was in primer and guide coat. Advertised as ready for paint.
All the pics I saw convinced me to make the trip.
Got there ... the parts of the car that weren't shown in the pics all had rust holes you could fit your fist through.
Ready for paint?? Not so much.

The car was a nice car there was just some things that was done he couldn’t live with and you would have to take the car apart to re do.I am still praying for him as when we got back I had to go to work he took a flight by himself and bought a fastback and is driving it back 1500 miles to get home .Please join in with me with prayers for safe travels. Thank you !!! Family
