New guy here...with a 66 coupe

I got it a few weeks ago right before I left on deployment with the Navy.  I've been pining over an old car for about 10 years now and once i saw this one and all that was done to it i couldn't pass it up.

the basics are that its basically a completely rebuilt car...started life as a 2spd 6cyl and now its a 3spd (although i want to change that) 302.  the car has been gone through from top to bottom with lots of goodies.  I'll write more later, just wanted to post some up.

Re: New guy here...with a 66 coupe

So...here's my second post...so i can post pics for you guys.  I have a few plans for the car, a transmission swap, preferably to a standard shifting vice the automatic that's in it and a few little mods to the inside to help with safety and comfort.

Welcome to the forum, crash.  That looks like a really straight car!
What part of the world do you live in?

Re: New guy here...with a 66 coupe

I live in Southern California...the car is very straight...it is however a V8 "T" car ;)  But, there has been A LOT of work done to it that I didn't do, I am the second owner of the car so that's cool as it is a black plate Cali car.

I figured it must be California from the palm trees.  Is there some significance to the nose stripe?

Re: New guy here...with a 66 coupe

I honestly have no idea why they did it.  I didn't paint the car, or do any work to it yet other than fixing the turn signals and i have a ticking lifter that i need to figure out when i get home.  I kind of like the look but i know the nose stripe was way more of a chevy thing for the Camaros back in the day, and a few Dodges and Plymouths had it to right?
