    Smelling like exhaust fumes everytime I take the Stang for a Ride.

    I do mostly highway driving so Im trying to figure out why my clothes smell like Exhaust Fumes after a Drive.  Is this the Carburetor or blow by?    The 302 runs Great.  There is no smoke when I step on it or hesitation.   I could see if I was idling for half hour where you get some exhaust fumes in the car.  But this has to be coming from the Engine.   Any one running  Catalytic Converters on ther carbed engine?

    Catalytic covertor......bite your tongue!! These are 60's pony/muscle cars. We don't need no stink'in convertor!!
    No really.....got tailpipes to rear valance?
                        any leaks in exhaust system?
                        any leaks in floor/ trunk section?
                         is the trunk seal in good shape/no leaky trunk?
                         sure the choke on carb is fully open?
                         TIMING(one of my favorite subjects) advanced plenty and not retarded?

    LOL!

    Tail pipes past the Valance.

    No leaks that I can see.  Would I hear the leaks if the header gaskets were leaking?

    Trunk and Floor is sealed tight.

    I do have air coming in from the passenger side on the upper firewall.  I still have been unable to figure out where thats coming from.

    Im not sure on the timing.  It does run Great!

    exhaust leak..even if u think u dont have one you probably do...mine did this..i finally found my leak..was at the header collector..now even with dumps and the shifter hole exposed i catch only the occasional wiff

    Is your car a coupe or Fastback? On our 65 Fastback /2+2, we found that trunk lid seal was not sealing properly on the curved downturn of lid. Replaced gasket and a little body work solved part of that problem. Found out that this is a common probably on 65/66 fastbacks.  Also seal up any body holes, such as old exhaust hanger holes,etc.   Next, check bumper bolts makes sure they are tight and sealed as bumper sticks out farther than valence. Exhaust tips must be at least an inch or more past edge of valence. Check for exhaust leaks. I have done the old ATV or diesel down the Carb at wot on a warmed up engineering engine, as white smoke is visible. Hope this helps.
