question about the hood on my 69 sportsroof

I'm restoring my 69 sportsroof. The body is sanded down to bare metal and has all original sheet metal in very good condition (car is originally from California). I have the marti report on it so I know what options it originally came with etc. I have a question about the hood that is currently on the car. My car is a sportsroof.....NOT a mach 1 or GT,..but the hood had a mach 1 type hood scoop on it and the hood itself has the original openings for the hood scoop signal lights and hood scoop screws, so the hood and scoop are an authentic pair. My marti report does NOT list a hood scoop as one of the options my car came with, so I'm assuming someone put this hood on after the car was born? I've seen 69 hard tops with the same hood scoops as well as the obvious Mach 1, GT, and Boss 302's but have never seen a original "fastback" (Sportsroof) with a hood scoop. The hood fits well, as though it could be the original hood, and every other body part is original. I want to keep it as original as possible so if this NOT the original hood, I'd rather replace it with what the car came with. Does anyone know if this could possibly be the original hood, with hood scoop,....even though it's not listed as an option on my marti report? Thanks, Bernie

Re: question about the hood on my 69 sportsroof

Some cars in 69 did have the hood scoop on them, even if not a MACH I or other specialty version.  I do not remember exactly what the option packages were that came with a hood scoop, but it could possibly be part of another package like exterior décor or some other name.  Your marti report should say something about whether the car came with a special décor package.  If it does, you can look up that package to see if it came with a scoop.

I am not a concours guy by any stretch of the imagination, so maybe there is another forum with a concours section that can help.  Not trying to get you to leave FYIFORD!  I hope you can stick around as it sounds like you could help us out sometime when a concours type question comes up.
