    68 power steering into 67 manual steering mustang

    Years ago I took everything off of a 68 donor car (power steering setup), I sold the donor 289 engine minus the pulleys,
    the guy I sold it to needed the crankshaft pulley,so I gave to him to get his car on the road. He said he would replace it with a new one (which he did). 18 years later I installed it on the damper, as I put the water pump pulley on,it hit the
    crankshaft pulley.Checking my old pulley 6 5/16"dia the one he got me is 6 3/4" dia,I found a water pump pulley
    from a 69 351, about 5 7/8"dia it fits no rubbing lines up great.I put the same alternator belt on, it adjusts up not in
    the same spot,but close on the bracket. I think pump belt will work also.Do you guys think this set up (the pulleys)
    will be ok or should I get the correct crankshaft pulley and use the 68 water pump pulley?  THANKS mustang stu

    If it bolts up and seats properly, the diameters clear and the belts align with their respective components, You might be OK. You will be slightly overdriving the waterpump, but not by much..
