Speedometer Needle

What would cause the speedometer needle (Indicator) to have a slight vibration back

and forth ? It's not drastic. It just doesn't sit still. I mentioned in a previous post that I had the speedometer

replaced but, it was fine after that. They then, had to go back in to replace the lamps and it was after

that when I noticed it. I would presume it might be the gear.😕

Re: Speedometer Needle

I've always used a product called DC-4. It's silicone grease by Dow Corning. It comes in a tube.

Re: Speedometer Needle

I had this issue before and just pulled the inner cable and smeared some axle grease on the cable and it was fixed.

Re: Speedometer Needle

If it started after someone had the cluster out for bulb replacement it may just be that the cable nut on the back of the speedo isn't tight.

Bullet Bob.......Thanks for the info.......I'm taking the car back for some touch up on the
dash board and they have to diagnose that temperature gauge  problem .They'll be taking the speedometer
out then.

Usually what happens is that the cable is pulled out a bit and the bend radius is decreased when the cluster is pulled out.  The easiest fix is to find where the cable comes through the firewall into the engine compartment and give it a tug.  It should come out a bit and most likely your speedo needle will be steady again.
