what are your thoughts using these from Speedway motors ?

How about posting a link to their website so we know which ones you're referring to.

I have used nylon insert locknuts on roller tipped rockers with no problems. Probably not best for a high revving, high hp engine but for street use they do fine. I have even used them a second time, which went against my better judgement, but they did not come loose.
If you plan high rpm, i thnk I would use steel nuts ot nuts with jamb nut or setscrews.

For what its worth, Chevy, Pontiac, early small block Fords, and I'm sure others too have all used crimped nuts for valve adjustment. When you use them, as MustangSteve said, only use them once. If the turning torque gets loose, toss them or just use them as regular nuts. In a pinch once, I put one on an anvil and smashed the top end. It worked and lasted until my dad was no longer able to drive, or about 20 more years.

Or you go with military spec heat resistant lock nuts.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
