Is it a GT350 Mustang engine?

I have an engine been sitting around for a while and not really sure what it is. These are the numbers off the block
C9OE-6015-B 5     9A231548  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm in the process of restoring/replacing gas tank, leaf springs, shocks and new gas & brake lines for starters on my 69' Mach1 351W FMX Auto. Thank You!  Bill

I think it's a 69 351W.  Here's something that may help:  http://www.mustangtek.com/block/Block.html

Re: Is it a GT350 Mustang engine?

Does it have a Shelby VIN stamped on it?

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Did Shelby do that? Just wondering.

I think it's a 69 351W, but that doesn't mean it came out of a Shelby.

Re: Is it a GT350 Mustang engine?

I've never heard that Shelby stamped any identifying marks into drivetrain components.  The only identifier, other than the equipment itself, is the plaque riveted over where the VIN is stamped on the inner fender.

"Numbers matching" usually just means that the various parts carry the right date codes to have come from the car.

My guess would be that its essentially impossible to tell if an engine came from a Shelby or not.  Even if it did what's the big deal?  Shelby didn't modify the engines except with some bolt on stuff you can buy reproduced now.  f you had an engine that was modified for use in one of his race cars, with a pedigree, that would be valuable.

Re: Is it a GT350 Mustang engine?

I was thinking it might be worth something to a Shelby owner who needed an engine with the right numbers or who wanted another engine with the right numbers to use as a proper spare later or use now to save the original.
