has anyone tried to put the first generation headers on a 67 mustang? what problems were encountered?

Not sure what you mean. Most of the headers I see are listed as covering '65-'73 or '65-'70. I don't see an issue with a header that fits a '65-'66 on a '67-'68. If anything there's only more room in the later cars.
Beyond that. there's standard header fitment issues as with any car. Power steering may require some work arounds. If you have a Borgeson setup the headers may not clear the box (my JBA shorties did not and I had to dimple them).

I put Tri-Y headers headers on my '67. I had a small clearance issue with the bellhousing on the passenger side that I was able to easily clearance with a grinder. I also had to make my upper clutch rod longer and my lower clutch rod shorter so the Z-bar didn't hit the header.

Basically from 65 to 70 all Mustangs are the same. The basic floor pan and engine compartment are for all practical purposes exactly the same. The big things that changes were the fenders themselves getting wider to accommodate wider tires and the shock towers were trimmed up to allow bigger engines.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
