How to buy a Used Mustang

I'd like to buy another fun/cruiser Mustang once I get my other one done. But I am very gun shy because I feel I got burned pretty bad last time. So I'd like to take an example car and get you guy's opinion. NOTE: I am not buying this one, but I think it is typical of a lot of "restored" cars out there. I think you guys that are good at this could really help those of us that are not!

So here it is, apologies if it's anyone on here

https://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/cto/d/full-restoration-1966-ford/6723210069.html

I know convertibles go for quite a bit more and this one looks very clean, but there's a couple of things that my untrained eye caught. Maybe it's nitpicking, you guys tell me. Also I'd love to know any tips and tricks you use when buying a used Mustang. So again let's use this car as an example.

1. The DS headlight bucket is not right
2. The trunk looks a little off and the lower valance gap seems large
3. For being "restored" the carpet is very faded and looks old

Re: How to buy a Used Mustang

Ray,
something that caught my eye was, the VIN..........I'm not seeing those Ford "star" stamps on either side of the VIN number........could be a fluke, could be a replaced inner fender panel that was restamped but they didn't have the "star".......could be why the DS headlight bucket is not quite right......DS took a hit and fender/inner fender got replaced.......just my thoughts based on what I observed......jkb

See it's insight like that, so good. Thanks!

Re: How to buy a Used Mustang

Interesting article (Buyer's Guide)  in Hemming's, not very in-depth, but at least something to start a checklist with
