AOD Shift Points

Im going to adjust the TV Cable on my  automatic AOD conversion.......upshift is ok..(I wouldn't mind if it upshifted at higher RPMs)..also doesn't downshift like I want unless I give the gas peddle a quick pump . same goes for OD until I hit about 60mph or if ive been in 3rd gear for a little bit and I let up on the gas pedal..its a freshly rebuild Trans so im pretty sure just needs a small adjustment on the TV Cable.. ...so does anyone have advice on adjusting it? before I go out and screw something up? lol  thanx

Upshift RPM should be a function of the governor, not the TV cable adjustment.  Check out this kit:

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/trg-aod-hirev

That should allow you to recalibrate the governor for higher RPM WOT upshifts.

how about down shifts though?..

Your shift issues are common with the AOD swap. Are you using the stock Ford TV cable and connecting ends? If so, try tightening the carb end 1/8". I set mine as instructed, no slack and pre-set pressure on the cable. Mine shifted way to soon, so I tightened the cable 1/8" which improved the shifting mucho. The tech video I watched said to tighten the cable an additional 1/8" for a total of 1/4" if your shifting didn't improve with the first 1/8" adjustment. Tightening the TV cable will not damage the clutches, however a loose cable will.

My understanding is that all other aspects of shifting are controlled by the TV cable.  Try adjusting as rpm suggests.

I have the Lokar set up on a 4 barrel edelbrock ..trans guy adjusted it alittle shifts and runs better but im not satisfied..one example is  if I turn the corner the car wont down shift unless a pump the pedal to kick down

ive read and seen videos on it as well ..I think iim going to give it a try and see

Lokar Is not the best to keep the preset the same at all times, but it is pretty to look at. A light spring too help pull back on the cable down at the aod linkage... did help some. I later made a screw adjuster for on the trans linkage too stop against. It keeps a few psi at all times when idling which the lokar was never good at. A permanent  psi gauge plumed from the aod up and hidden under the hood is there, so I can keep track if something has changed

your ideas sound great I might do that! as for the up shifting I dialed it in a little better might need a tiny more adjustment but does feel and shift way better..now my new problem is when I slow down to a turn it down shift from over drive to 3rd but it wont down -oh no I used a word I shouldn't have- from 3rd to 2nd unless I give the pedal a good pump...
