FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Dumb paint question - Apply body filler before priming? » 7/16/2026 2:31 PM
Like everyone we all have our favorite sources and methods, but I swear by these guys and how they recommend doing all things paint and body.
"On any restoration, it is always best to apply the body filler over the epoxy rather than applying filler over bare metal for best adhesion and corrosion protection."

Me too! I have a 3D printer, fiber laser cutter, and other goodies. I'd be happy to make it, and if provided the 3D printer file there'd be no chance of reverse engineering. Not like I would do that, but it's worth mentioning.
FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » Does anyone have 4 point or 6 point roll bar in their car?? » 6/17/2026 9:06 AM
Just remember to be careful where you and your passenger are in relation to the bars. Aftermarket rollbars, roll cages are mainly designed with the driver wearing a helmet. Folks have died in accidents on the street because their head hit the bar. And no, rollbar padding is not good enough to absorb impact in a collision.
Just something to keep in mind, I ended up using a containment seat in my red truck after the cage went in to protect my head when not wearing a helmet. But that is a seriously impractical option for a regular street car.

Funny that you mention that. I just saw a piece on the Godzilla so I looked a skosh further. Saw the prices and was impressed for that level of performance and late model quality, it seemed a great value. This engine package leaves a fair bit of room for a wiring harness and ECM. Trans and beyond can get very expensive quickly.
Yes supporting stuff can get expensive quick and a Mustang would need a Holley front dress which adds $$$. BUTT™ there's ways to offset it. I guess it comes down to what you want, a nice stock-ish standard SBF will win as you can reuse everything. But once you start looking at higher HP levels it starts to favor the Godzilla a bit. I will say all in (Holley front dress, BTR cam, BTR intake, adapter for E4OD, Holley EFI, etc) I am still below $13K. It actually arrived Friday. Now I have to do the cam and front dress swap.

Just like everything nowadays, building or buying an engine is expensive! I just did a comparison for a "nice" stroker Windsor for one of my Lightnings. Obviously nice is subjective, but I wanted parts from well known suppliers and around 5-600HP. $14K was cheapest I could find from Ford Strokers.
Very long story short I picked up a brand new Ford Godzilla longblock for $6100.00...

You can paint the whole thing after you bolt the wire down. Or you can use a rivnut. At the end of the day you want a clean metal-to-metal contact not a metal-paint-metal contact.

FYI Ford, Classic Mustang Tech Discussion » B&M supercharger carburetor. » 2/03/2026 10:57 AM
This won't be a blow through carb as it sits on top of the blower. I've never personally done one of these setups, but I believe you just have to ensure it's sized appropriately just as you would any other carb.

Use a Lube Locker gasket and never clean up RTV or buy another gasket again. Anything else is insanity.
I run these on both the front and rear axles in both my F250s, and have many miles on them with zero issues. I changed the gear lube after a gear break in in my '06 truck (10.5" rear) and cleaned up the gasket and surfaces with some brake cleaner, threw it back together, and all was well. There was zero damage to the gasket. I literally just spent about a minute cleaning off any oil. Well, well worth it. Honestly, a tube of RTV is $10-$13 anymore. Twice that for a gasket that eliminates the mess and lasts forever? No brainer.
100% agree on Lube Locker, used this on rear end housings and trans pans. So nice.

Edit: yes quick Google search I already found a file. Now you just need to find someone that can print it up for you. This is a hobby I really want to get into.
I downloaded the file and can print it, but right now the best filament I have is ABS.

SPI has excellent products and is used by many high end shops. On top of that the company has excellent customer service and is not owned by one of the giant conglomerations. The owner, who is retired, still answers calls to his cell phone, how cool is that?

I'll post again about the NLOC and then I'll be quiet because I don't want anyone thinking I am trying to promote it ![]()
Here's what the Xenforo self hosted option looks like Xenforo also offers a cloud hosted setup now for $60/month. I am going to move to that.
I think a private FB group would be a great companion, that way people have both options. I did not make one as there's already a large Gen 1 Lightning group, but I do have an NLOC **business** FB page.

Trying again...
No joy from when I just uploaded. When I was successful I got a pop up about how imgbb is not affiliated with Boardhost blah blah blah. I clicked accept and was able to upload, but I also checked "don't show this message again" now my images don't appear.
I am going to clear cookies and try again.

Weird, I am unable to post as well. When I use the upload button I get the Imgbb popup, I upload my image, but nothing happens. I even signed up for an account and resized my image to be smaller, but no joy. I tried a full reply as well as "quick reply".
I'll try a different browser.

Right now I am using a hosting service for the NLOC forum, that cost was on top of the cost of the software. It now looks like there's a full "turnkey" service option starting at $60.00 per month. That's a really nice setup.

Yeah, everything is so diluted now, I used some stuff from Home Depot when I stripped my coupe several years back, it worked great on the paint, the bondo I found hiding underneath there not so much, but that's a different story...

Unfortunately it's too big for my 3D printer. More than happy to send you all the files, I would definitely have it 3d printed 1st to check all the measurements before having it made out of metal.
