Anyone here able to help out with Daze strut rod Mod

I bought a tap and die I guess the threading die was not sharp enough. I sanded down my strut rod as I didnt know who to take my strut rods to. But now I need to buy a set of strut rods and was wondering if by chance someone on here could maybe assist me with turning down the strut rod to and thread the strut rod to 5/8-18 RH if I remember correctly. My original set of strut rods is now a paper weight. Unless someone may have an Idea.

Sent you a PM.  Other than that I have to believe that there must be at least one competent machine shop in your area that could do what you need to have done.

Cut them off and weld on a sleeve having 3/4” threads.  5/8” sure seems small for strut rod connection.


Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

I thought so too. Made mine with 3/4" threads.

Thanks for the suggestion on going 3/4" Daze just noted that he went with 5/8" to give a little more clearance due to using a larger diameter sway bar and it matches the clevis inner diameter nice thats used for the front sut rod mount in the pocket. MS I didnt think of a sleeve. Frustrating that the threading die didnt cut the threads very well. I backed off the die after only turning it forward only bout a turn and ahalf. I also used transmission fluid I dont have any cutting oi. I got the lots of threads probably over kill. the thread die just broke off some of the threads when I backed off the die the last time cleaning cleaning off the threaded portion.

What size of front sway bar would be a good one to go with for my 1965 Mustang coupe 289 V8 C4 with A/C? My car came from the factory with the kinda rare Appearance package I believe it was called. I was told by my old Boss that does alot of Concourse Restorations that a Appearance Package car Came with C shape  pinstripe, Bigger Coil springs,and a Larger Diameter sway bar if I remember correctly. It should also have two  Paint stripes on the Coil springs two paint stripes on a bare steel sway bar and two paint stripes on the rear leaf springs. what size sway Bar is most Commonly equipped on 65-66 v8 Mustangs?

1 inch sway bar for the front works pretty durn good for a street machine. 1 1/4" for stiffer ride and maybe spirited driving. Then I think a rear sway bar added in for even more aggressive driving.
1 inch is very noticeable over a stock bar... in conjunction with Arning drop....export bar....Monte Carlo bar. ...shocks...its a great package.
