hHAHHAhAHAHA the story is that the engine is being pulled out! ! Tomorrow at Prof Aka Paul May's garage, AL , Paul and I will take the engine out.
The cam has scratch marks on it, and the bearings while not gone, have signs of oil contamination.. DUH. :D
The contamination is not coming from the main bearings, it is just affecting them. The crank journals were smooth. I will document with pics here as I tear the engine apart.
Thanks for the question..

Be sure you clean all oil passages in the block (remove all plugs) and passages in the crank and pushrods. Wherever oil circulated, whatever contaminated the oil will be deposited.

There were all kinds of mysteries visual with Gaba's engine.
1. a couple of cylinders weren't firing or weren't firing very much.
2. Several cylinders had pistons completely coated with burnt oil gunk.
3. cylinders 5 & 6 were firing; but, appeared to be burning very rich.
4. The front cam bearing had abnormal wear.
5. And Yes, there were scouring marks on several cam lobes.
6. Oh yeah, the back fifth of the dampner was scoured, appeared to be dragging on the timing cover.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
