Need tech help concerning pictures on the forum

https://postimages.org/plugins

I found the above site.  They put a link on each post that allows a picture to be placed in the post.  I do not know how to tell if our Boardhost forum is one of the formats it will work with.  Can anyone help?  What format is this forum created in?   It works kind of like the tinypics stuff we used to have, and I figure that is at least way better than what we have right now.

Re: Need tech help concerning pictures on the forum

They have a contact link, why not ask them?
I’d assume that it should work with varied web sites and forums.

Re: Need tech help concerning pictures on the forum

I looked at that back when I posted the instructions for using PostImages.  I believe it is a no joy for us.  Here's the list of forum/board websites that they currently have listed as supported:

Notice that "boardhost" is not in the list.

Re: Need tech help concerning pictures on the forum

I don't think the HTML code is the point of the PostImages plug-in integration.  I think the plug-in, if it were available, would allow photos to be uploaded to PostImages website and displayed in a thread all without having to leave the forum.  As it is now, a member would need to upload their photos to their PostImages galleries directly in the PostImages website.  Then when responding to a thread here in the forum, they could add their photos to the post using the picture icon in the toolbar here in the message editor window.  They would need to get the URL for their photo from their gallery in PostImages.

I'm not certain I have expressed my thoughts clearly.  It is late.

Re: Need tech help concerning pictures on the forum

That is explained very well and Is exactly what I was thinking. It could be used just as I use image shack now for my own posts. If it was going to be an integrated part of the forum the hosting site and boardhost would need to be contacted to find out how hard it would be to add,  but it should be usable as is as long as you leave the forum upload the photo and come back with the link.

I am not surprised by that.  I don't think they are putting any time or money back into the business just leaving the site up and collecting $ from advertising and those groups still paying for service.  And now that I say that It makes me think it might be another good reason to move the forum.  If they are no longer "working" at maintaining their business, and with the decline of forums as a whole, it is reasonable to think that at some point the money coming in to boardhost will not cover their expenses so if Boardhost decides to pull the plug the site would probably be gone without warning and we would lose all the contact info.  In that case getting everyone to a new sight would be extremely hard and I am sure we would lose a lot of people but if the forum makes a decision to move we can get the word out about the new location and hopefully keep the most members.  Just something that popped into my head and thought I would mention it.

Only five or six members post any more. Is it worth the effort to even move it?

I would hate to see that happen, if for no other reason than the bash.

You would loose the people, like myself, that have never been on Facebook and intend to stay away from it.

I changed the name of that page to MustangSteve FYI for now

Billy, I think the general consensus is to stay away from Facebook.  If MS wanted to go back to Facebook the page he set up several years ago is still an option, it would just need to be reopened.

Re: Need tech help concerning pictures on the forum

I am all for doing what is best to keep this forum alive and well. I can't really help with the technical computer/website stuff, but I and pitch in some money to help smooth the way if we decide to move on to another format/website. Don't give up the ghost - there are far too few websites that are helping to perpetuate the Mustang hobby.  Don't let this one die.........

Re: Need tech help concerning pictures on the forum

I think I may have lost sight of the issues with using our current forum on Boardhost.  If it is only the photos, then I think we have covered a functional answer to that.  Are there other issues?

Pictures issue is my only real complaint.

Yes, there are workarounds to be able to get a picture posted, but there are forum hosting sites that allow pics to be placed with just a couple of clicks.  I think it best to choose one and move.

Re: Need tech help concerning pictures on the forum

I've been using TinyPics w/o any issues.  I've posted how I've done this; evidently this process doesn't work for everybody ... I have no idea why.
It woulld be nice to be able to click 'copy' on a picture from one's computer and 'paste' to the forum response.
