65-66 spindles

I know there are differences between 6 cylinder and 8 cylinder.

My question pertains to overall geometry differences?

Such as location of ball joints, steering arm, Ackerman, etc.
I’m not an engineer and I never had 6 cylinder spindles for comparison.

Re: 65-66 spindles

Ball joints are in same place.  Tie rod location is way different between six and eight on 64-1/2 to 66, which changes ackerman drastically.

On 67-73, all spindles had same geometry and no change 6 vs 8.  They have different ackerman than 65-66 spindles.  There were differences between disc/drum and tie rod sizes.

Re: 65-66 spindles

Did the Ackerman actually change or did they just relocate the steering arm in a different plane?

Re: 65-66 spindles

They are definitely in a different plane. I would have to get another look side by side to verify ackerman.
I will be removing 6 cyl spindles on Jose’s 65 and replacing with v8 next month, so can compare then.
