The Whole Forum Thing

Hopefully this isn't beating a dead horse, but I am getting ready to move the NLOC over to a new forum provider so I thought I'd pass on some info I've learned.

Most forum hosting requires a good deal of work in both forum and server hosting, vBulletin offers a cloud option so the only thing you have to worry about as the site admin is, well, the site. They have plans from 14.95/month and up. Seems very reasonable.

I've spun up a test NLOC instance, go over and see what you think, posting pictures is easy and the mobile format seems nice too. Plus I like the "community" aspects where you can have articles, blogs, groups, etc besides the regular old forums. Feel free to just register and play, DO NOT accidentally pay for an NLOC membership LOL just ignore that, it's for Lightning guys and how I pay for the NLOC stuff testnloc.vbulletin.net obviously the URL can be what you want, this is just a test.

Re: The Whole Forum Thing

The only forum I ever got involved with is this one so I certainly am no expert.  But, that seems to be a clean, simple example.  Looks like it can be as flexible as you need/want without undue fluff.  I could get into that.
I am a little worried about the Poll though.  I couldn't find it or any other ads...what's up with that?  LOL

Bullet Bob is right.  That's a nice clean setup.

Mike feel free to register and explore the options and user experience. JamesW and I are already posting some things just to see how the mechanics work. I have increased the Avatar Size from 200x200 to 400x400.
