S197 refers to the 05 to 14 cars but there was a brake change in there around 10, I believe. When I installed mine MS said 2010 brakes and that's what I have stuck with...just so you know.
I am running Cragar 17x7 Vintage, all aluminum one-piece wheels and they clear the brakes just fine. The caliper is pretty close to the back of the spoke...1/8" but I looked at a Mustang after doing the install and the caliper on it was just as close to the stock wheel.
As I recall, the 11+ cars used a slightly bigger caliper. Others should have better knowledge on this.

I do not have S197 brakes, but curious as to where is the interference issue with these wheels?

it is hitting the spokes....but my install was a little differnt I went with v6 11.2 rotors and the v6 caliper brackets . One theory I have is its got the caliper hitting wrong spot on a 17 inch rim. I had to stack 3 washers on each studd to clear the caliper..33 inch. I am thinking maybe I can try a 12.5 rotor and a 13.2 rotor and appropriate caliper bracket with rotor it will change the spot it buts the caliper at the wheel.

Holy cow I posted some pictures

Do you have any contact marks that show where the interference is located?

Washers??? Don't let MS see that picture!

Billy, how thick is the stack of washers?
There are 2 different wheel hubs that are very similar.
The offset of the mounting flanges are slightly different.
MS and RPM know about this issue.

Cool wheels. 😎

My suggestion would be to mark the wheel where the interference exists, then measure how far out the caliper would need to be placed to gain adequate clearance.
Or, you could try the caliper brackets for the 12.5” and/or the 13.2” rotors (or rig up something to simulate where the caliper would be) w/o getting the associated rotors, you’d be able to determine whether the caliper will hit the wheel or not. Remember to make sure the various diameter rotors have the same ‘hub to rotor face’ depth measurement.

Who else has the S197 Brake set up?

Billy, I hate to hear you are having fitment issues. I've thought about changing over to the V-6 calipers and brackets to be able to run a 16" rim for a tire with a taller sidewall for a better ride. It will get pushed out several years since I now have new tires on both ends of the car!!!
My rims are American Racing VN527 Mag Grey Machine Lip. Summit part number ARE-52778012400. The part number isn't found on the site today. You would have to google the part number for pictures.
As you can see, the new brake calipers are located past the mating surface for the wheel on the rotor. The factory calipers were not like that. When I was shopping for wheels, I had to make sure there was enough clearance there to make it work. In 2017 when I bought the rims, returns were not allowed once a tire had been mounted.
Your best shot might be to add a 3/8" wheel spacer. What would that do for clearance to the fender lip?
MustangSteve has a saying about wheels and cars that I'm surprised he hasn't tossed out here. He did for me.

I have 2014 GT Calipers on my Front and 2018 GT calipers on my rear. Im running 2001 Mustang GT 17x8 rims. I had to use 1" spacers. They barely cleared on my 69.

I believe they quit making your wheels.

I wish I had ordered a 16x7 and a 17x7 when I ordered I already put new tires on the 17x7's I figured them being 17's I would have no problem. I did not realize the made them in 16x7
Offline

The shelby 10 spokes in 17x7 were $282.00 each and were on sale for $245.00 each so thats when I bought them when they came off sale the jumped to $310.00 each and I bought new tires, the lugs and valve stem kit was $140.00 and was $112.00 on sale and I bought the better center caps for like $150.00,+....It has been a mess. Heck the 16x7 may fit with no problem cause of where that caliper would end up. I may just order one to see. I sure some one would eventually want some 17x7's

as mysterious as I saw the16x7 in that wheel, now after searching for them It is like they dont make them.

Dealing with issues like this is never fun. Its kind of late now, but finding a drawing like this prior to wheel purchase is a must when we start using different brakes. It's what let me know that what I bought should clear the rotors. Hopefully, the link works. It was the first thing I could find.
Added rambling!! American Racing may have quit making them. Other companies could still make a similar version. I had found the same style by another company years ago that had the back spacing that was more desirable, but it doubled the price. In retrospect, I should have paid the double cost. Coys is someone that sell rims, they would have been my next choice. I talked with someone there that was very confident the wheels would clear any brakes.
Link has been edited.
