Re: Here's one MS

There is a guy here in Texas that buys coupes, cuts the tops off and shortens them 16" to completely eliminate the rear seat. The result? A topless roadster with no backseat. I have sean at least three versions he has made over the last several years, so he must be selling them to someone. Oh, still all steel.

Re: Here's one MS

I can't believe the article calls it ugly.  It looks good to me!

Re: Here's one MS

The Mustang design proportions have been sacrifised by just cutting a piece from the middle and sticking it back together.
IMO the rear wheels ahve to be relocated towards the back to keep some of the proportions.+

What does that mean? Your referenced article talks about an early, short modified Mustang, my post talks about current short modified Mustangs. What am I missing?

Easy Hornman, I wuz just re-pointing out that this was a factory effort of 1964, not a home grown.

Re: Here's one MS

It is cool, but in sort of a two-headed-snake sort of way.  Something's definitely not right, but it's kind of fun to look at.

Re: Here's one MS

From the base of the windshield back it looks a lot like the early Datsun Z car. No one ever said they were ugly. I bet if the factory had produced them as a "sport coupe" (and the 271HP engine) it would be one of the most desirable of the old Mustangs.

Re: Here's one MS

I figure centering the rear wheel wellbetween the back(latch) edge of the door frame and the rear bumper would do all kind of nice things for the Datstang Z. Handling and looks. Betcha.
