MustangSteve’s LAW remains in effect

Today I went to install my new LED taillights on my 66.  Simple thirty minute job since I already had an earlier version of LEDs on it.
The LAW kicked in when I somehow lost one of the short phillips screws that holds the chrome bezel to the taillight panel.  I could not find it anywhere, but am 99% certain it is in the trunk, under the spare or down in the trunk dropoff area.   It was too hot to disassemble everything to look for it so I now have one missing screw.  Of course, they are a screw specific to that application and I don’t have one laying around.

Stuff like that really hacks me off!

The lights came from Steve’s Mustang.  Glen knew exactly what to send when I ordered the bright-assed LEDs

Re: MustangSteve’s LAW remains in effect

I made four custom Holley idle feed restrictors earlier today.

Dropped one that transported itself to an alternative universe.

Made a fifth one so I could have four!

Many years ago, I was installing the compressor halves on a little  Allison 250 C20 turbine engine for a Hughes 500 helicopter. The halves were held on by a whole mess of small special screws and nuts. I dropped one of the screws and it simply disappeared. I spent an hour looking for that screw, swept the shop floor, etc, etc. I finally had to get a new one from another helicopter operator.
When I got home that night after a long frustrating day, I was getting undressed for bed.  As I took off my pants, the screw hit the floor. The pants were working uniform pants, with a cuff at the bottom of the legs. The damned screw had landed in my pants cuff and stayed there all day! I hate it when that happens!!!!

Re: MustangSteve’s LAW remains in effect

At the Joe Martin Craftsmanship Museum in Carlsbad CA they have a steam engine that must be viewed through a large magnifier.  That's because it is only slightly larger that a BB (not Bullet Bob).  The story the docent told me is that the builder dropped the first one...never found it, and had to build a second one.  Now that would REALLY be a PIA.

Incidentally, if you have never been to that museum and you have a chance to go...DO IT.  You absolutely will not believe the volume and quality of the work.  Ask our Barry, I didn't think I'd ever get him to leave.

Sounds too much like the time portal in the back of the dryer that all those all those missing socks go through.
