Gonna go look at a 66 F100 this weekend. Can either buy with or without a rebuilt 6 cylinder in it.
Says 2500 with the engine or 700 without.
Any suggestions on what to look for?
As if i need another project right now.
Also going to try to go to the Boss Nationals about 20 miles from me.

Look for rust and missing trim/small parts. Unless you really want a six and trust someone elses engine building skills, I'd take the $1800 discount.

from the pics i see some rust on the roofline above the cab and by the hood hinges.
I will most likely take the discount, just don't see too many of these old trucks for sale any more. (Reasonable anyway)
We had a green 65 that i learned to drive in.

Yeah, at $1,800 he's WAY proud of a 6 cylinder. It might be worth 1/3 that if you sold it.

It looks to me like it's been hit pretty hard in the front. Between that and the rust in the cab roof above the door I'd walk away from it.

Went and looked this morning. Way more rust than i want to deal with. Would be buying a bed, frame and hood.. The rest would need replaced.

$2,500??? That would be a down payment in California.

BUT in California it wouldn't be a rust bucket.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
