    New shop addition

    There was a question on an other forum about jacking up the front of  Mustangs. So those here don’t feel left out I thought I would share my answer with our crowd.
    None of my floor jacks are arthritis friendly so I thought that turning an air valve would be easier than getting up off the floor to row a jack handle.
     I got this air bag jack and made an adapter to use on the pinch welds of the Mustang.
     Seems to do the job as advertised.
    Here are some pictures.
     The adapter with a HDPE cushion in the slot.

    Set up on the pinch weld, yeah the car is dirty . . me bad!

    How stable is it at full extension?

    Seems to be very stable since the other three wheels are on the ground. The air bag has some kind of restraining mechanism inside it to eliminate tipping off to one side.
    I would not trust 4 of then in place of jack stands though.
    The use of solid safety supports under the car would still be prudent , same as with a hydraulic jack.

    Great idea. Those air bags can lift a lot of weight. I lifted the nose of a MD80 that had a nose gear lock link fail on landing. Got it high enough to drop the gear and replace the link so we could tow it off the runway. I agree, not having to get down on the ground to position a floor jack is a plus for us "old guys".

    Semi trailers and low riders have been using these for years now.
    There are different diameters, heights, and load capacities as well.

    I like the pinch weld adapter Rudi.
