I have a 65 mustang with 5.0efi/t-5 swap with cable clutch. What brand and size headers should i use with this setup?
thank you!

I am totally sold on using shorty headers with ball/socket type pipe connections. I installed JBAs on mine and am very happy with the fitment. In the end, the fitment is the only thing that really matters unless you are 100% racing the car trying to get the very last HP out of it. There are several that fit very well. Tubo has a set on his 65 that fit great.

was there any issues with the clutch cable?

I also used shorties. Not jba but some off brand swap header. Fit like a glove. I don't have a clutch but can't see where there would be any clearance issues at all.

I will second the JBA shorties. I also have a 5.0/5 speed in my car and the cable cleared the JBA's with plenty of room to spare. I did have a clearance issue with the JBA headers and the steering box, but from what I have heard that could have been my engine mounts. Apparently the 65 mounts and the 66 mounts are different, and there is no way to know what is actually in my car.

My JBA shorty headers are specifically designed for a 351W in a 65/66 with cable clutch. I did add a bracket from one of the oil pan bolts to hold the cable away from the header tube as much as possible. Since my car has no steering box, the big tube could have been rerouted to give a ton more clearance, but I did not find that to be necessary. I can't help but wonder if I had bought the JBA headers NOT designed for cable clutch if it might have fit my car better than what I got. You can see the big tube actually angles TOWARDS the cable. I assume that is so it clears the stock steering box.
Be sure to insulate the cable. The piece of mil-spec nomex tubing on mine has been on my car for about 15 years.

+1 for the JBA headers. I switched from full length Hookers to the shorty JBAs last month. Since then I've had to pull my T5 out twice for other issues (flywheel, clutch, shifter hole) and the shorties are freaking awesome. Cable clearance is at least 4-5" for me and not having to unbolt the headers is such a nice change. I went with the silver ceramic coated JBAs because I was tired of having to repaint every few years.
