Installed Bullet Bob's old steering box on my 69 coupe today

The main problem with my old box was the rag joint was worn out and had alot play in it.  The box checked out OK but it was the 5-turn slow ratio box.   The car has manual steering.

The quick ratio box I got from Bullet was a quick ratio and had a decent looking rag joint, so I readjusted it and stuck it on there.  Works great, and the car feels quicker on corners, even though the effort is a little more, but barely noticeable.

Bullet, I had to take 2 full turns out of the adjuster to get it to specification.  Maybe that is why your car wanted to wander?  It was doing its best to try and get off that high center where it was so tight.

Worked good and I am very happy with the trade.  Ramses is coming over Thursday to strip the glass out of the doors so I can send you one.

Well shoot.  And I though I had that box adjusted "just about right".  Guess that's why you are the recognized pro.

Glad it works well for you.  I do think I'm gonna be happy with the Borg box regardless...way fewer parts to leak.

As for the door.  Jkb said he was going to be in your neighborhood this week some time and wanted to know if there was anything else he could pick up.  I told him  just the pass door so he may be looking to get it now rather than when he leaves for OKC next month.

Also, he said he can deliver the two "donor" doors from me to you on his return trip from OKC around 5-12.

Guess this shoulda been in an email or PM....sorry.

Re: Installed Bullet Bob's old steering box on my 69 coupe today

Sorry to steal your thread Steve, but I have a question for Bob.

I have the same seats as you Bob and the leg clearence to the stock steering wheel is sorta tight. What size steering wheel do you have?

I am looking at a LaCarra Shelby wheel which is 14-3/4" in diameter. I have manual steering, but the steering effort is not that bad with the Daze performance alignment and 215 tires.
