Wiring in a new electric fuel pump on my car, it is a carter fuel pump 4601hp for a carbureted engine. The pump is wired with a relay up in the engine compartment and I am running 10 gage wire back to the pump, and the pump uses a 10 amp fuse.
The main question I have is I want to mount the inertia switch in the trunk and hook it to the 10 gage wire, can the inertia switch handle the amp load. Or is the inertia switch usually wired to the switched low amp side of the relay?

Put the inertia switch between the relay and the pump. Ten amps should be no problem.

I put mine in the ground side of the relay and switched the ground whenever the inertia switch is triped.
