coil over suspension

Anybody purchased or install a Global West coil over suspension system?

What year is your car and what are you trying to accomplish?  A well-sorted out stock suspension will perform quite well in many situations and some people I have talked to have indicated that moving to a coil-over from a very good "stock" suspension provided no significant improvement versus the dollars they spent.  There is a bling factor but that is kind of hard to see when the car is on the road.  Of course, you will hear the exact opposite from people who have made the swap.  There are a lot of other upgrades you can do for the money such as brakes, etc., so if you can describe what you currently have versus what you want it would be helpful.  If you swap from a very tired suspension you will probably feel a world of difference but you would be comparing apples and oranges.

I agree with GP that the well sorted stock set up is a great thing. To me well worted means you have the Shelby drop and enough caster to get the car to point in really well. When my car had the stock fron end I had reworked the upper control arm and the lower to get more caster and did the shelby drop. It took a fair amount of trial and error with the springs to get the corner weights I wanted but it worked really well. A few days ago someone posted pics of their coilover system they were mqking with QA1 parts which looked super. I would go that route only to make the ride height/corner weight adjustment easier. His set-up was nice in that he was using the bee-hive spring on the stock top spring seat and got his adjustment with the threaded body shock. Nice Nice Nice! The way he did it you could easily fabricate the upper arm to get additional caster along with shortening the strud rod a little and not mess up your wheelbase or wheel location in the fender well.

I appreciate the reply but, I would have prefered an answer to the question. I checked some of your past post's on suspension and see that DC is using a M2 set up. This is fine if you absolutely need the engine bay space but as far as handling you should have taken your own advice and stayed with a modified stock set up. When you install a M2 set up you destroy the Ackerman angle and greatly reduce suspension travel which only increases the under steer. The coil over system has several advantages over modified stock and M2. The first being increased leverage which gives you more consistant tire to road contact, inreased suspension travel, and allows a softer spring to be used which improves handling.

When you post a single sentence question with no other details, you will get more questions than answers when people try to extract details on what exactlly want to do.  If you had spent more time asking the question rather than the time you invested in slamming another poster's choices you may have had a better answer.

For example:

I have a XX Mustang and I have determined that I want to buy a coil-over suspension because they offer increased leverage which gives you more consistant tire to road contact, inreased suspension travel, and allows a softer spring to be used which improves handling.  I have seen kits from several vendors and am particularly interested in the Global West system.  Has anyone purchased or installed one of these?

Then you may have received the answer you preferred even though it sounds like you have already made up your mind.

The original question was short and to the point. Had you answered the question instead of trying to push your point of view I may not have felt you were just another know it all. Your tutorial on how to ask a question only confirms my opinion of your attitude, and as I said in my second post I have already deceided on the type of suspension I was seeking feed back on manufacturers.

The original question you asked can be easiest answered by just a "Yes" or "No" and nothing else. But now you say you are seeking for feedback on manufacturers. IMHO it would have been great if you mentioned that together with the initial question to avoid the kind of answers you not seem very happy with.
