Mounted Flaming River tilt column

Today I got the FR column mounted.  The dash bracket they sell is to wide so I had to add a pretty good size bevel so it would sit flat against the underside of the dash where it clamps the column.  Thir bracket they sell came with long bolts and lock nuts.   The bolts are the same thread as the inserts in the clutch pedal bracket where the stock column bracket bolts to.  I just removed the studs ford used and other than the bevels I added, it bolts up.  Somewhat challenging to get it all to line up and start a bolt while holding it and trying to get the bolt started in the insert which slides around.  The bracket does not slide to easy on the column but it's designed that way so once it is clamp, it's not moving!  Had to put the gauges in just for the picture.

I have one of those with EPAS. After you install your steering wheel could you post a picture of the full up tilt position. Mine does not tilt up as much as I would like. It tilts down a lot more than up.

It might be a month before I get to that part but I need to order one so I can set the column where it needs to be.

That ribbon cable coming out of the side of the column is now on the front side of that aluminum column clamp. Don't buy the steering shaft to steering box joint until you determine where you want the column positioned.

That ribbon cable coming out of the side of the column is now on the front side of that aluminum column clamp. I have a D shaft and knuckles that haven't been fitted yet.  But I do have a question.  I was told not to slip the D shaft inside of the flaming River column shaft.   I think that's the best way to mount it and install a roll pin once I establish the final position. In my mind I have a point where it can collapse.  Can't recall why my buddy said not to mount it that way and I'm pretty sure he had read that somewhere online.

I don't think the D shaft can be moved inside the column(mine is not collapsible). Maybe because mine has their EPAS attached? I just moved the whole column forward. When I moved the whole column forward I had to source a longer joint.

The original D shaft that came with the R&C MII kit slips inside of the FR column nicely.  The column itself is not the collapsible column FR sells.  I was thinking that with the D shaft slide into the FR column and held by a roll pin that it wouldn't be a solid connection, the roll pin could shear.    I'm sure I'm over thinking this.   I'll research how FR suggest I connect the D shaft to the column.

If you shear a roll pin on a D shaft connection, you might be in the hospital.

RTM - I'm not sure how one could shear a roll pin on this D-shaft arrangement.  I doubt that would occur due to a twisting motion.  
BTW - my 12-year-old R&C MII D-Shaft joints use setscrews.  Have they changed to using roll-pins?
