Parts were ordered direct from The Cruise Control Store Complete Cruise Kits - Universal - The Cruise Control Store
I ordered the Universal Cruise Control with dashpad switch.
VSS is a Dorman 917-614
Switch is a Rostra 250-3593
My goal was to put the control switch inside the ashtray.

First off, the directions are not well written. Think Chilton's manual written in a foreign language then retranslated into English. The wiring diagram was helpful. You had to pick out the little nuggets of useful data from the pages. One key item is if you have LED taillights you have to install a five way relay into the circuit that controls the unit when you touch the brake pedal. I ended up drawing a diagram to help me understand what it was trying to do. The 12 Dip Switch settings were not very clear at all. The forum guru's helped me figure it out.

Once installed I took it out for a drive and it didn't work. Next morning I called their tech support and worked with them. Very good tech support. Michael had it isolated down to which wires I probably got crossed. Sure enough that was the issue. He didn't think the two wire VSS was going to work with the system.

I fixed the two wires and took it out for another drive. Worked like advertised. I called tech support back and told Michael the version VSS I used does work. He took down the information and thanked me for the feedback.
I did a long drive this morning and it functioned beautifully. The wiring still needs to be cleaned up inside the car, but I will get to that later. The control unit is temp installed in the ashtray. Will make a better fit after the bash. I am going for functional not beauty at this point.

Way to go Ed. It’s needed for long trips.

I’m bought a cruise control set up right before the Michigan bash. Didn’t have time to get it installed, then lost it in the 2 moves in 4 years!! I haven’t made time to install since I found it.

Glad it worked out for you, Ed.  I put my cruise in before the 2010 Bash and would never try a long trip without it.  Were you able to adapt  your speedo cable...no, not that one, the one in the dash...to the VSS?

I put the Dorman part between the AOD transmission and the speed cable. Ran a two wire harness up to the control module. I didn't have to do anything to the cable in the dash.

Same unit as in my 67. I run magnets on the driveshaft though. Works well. I am a cruise control kind of guy.
