FYI FORD MustangSteve's Ford Mustang Forum / Modified the late model valve cover

I finally got some piddle time to play with this idea. I cut the stock oil fill tube on the scrap cover to 1 5/8" length, so a push cap would fit. I know from when I posted previously, that no one really liked the idea of the trunk badges, I did run across these stickers which are a tad too big. My long term idea was to laser engraved FORD or Galaxie or something into them, but it doesn't look like that idea is going to pan out, at least with equipment I have access to. Anyways, this would be the passenger side. The idea for the driver's side is to take out the tube completely and and put a grommet and pcv valve. Unfortunately, these covers are getting harder to find and do not seem cost effective anymore to be "different".

I did not put the Pcv into the cover. They were given to me this way. That is why it's scrap. There is no way to oil baffle the Pcv the way it was done. I bet that thing smoked like a cigar!

I'll have to keep an eye out for the valve covers. I never knew they had any value.

I have no idea why the spike in interest in these things.

Tomorrow in going to try and figure out where I put my extra Galaxie fender scripts at, and see what one of those might look like on there. Speaking of those scripts, do an e bay search and see what those used puppies are going for! A few years back I bought a set complete with the crown moulding for 9.99 free shipping. I should have two sets down there if I can find them. Prices are outrageous right now!

I have at least two sets sitting on a shelf in my shop. Why anyone would restore a Foxbody that wasn't something rare ('93 Cobra, ASC Maclaren, etc.) is beyond me. Most of them lost their factory exhaust seemingly on the way home from the dealership in favor of a pair of Flowmasters. They were a great starting point stock, but much, much better with at least a few aftermarket bits.

I found the scripts today. You can call me a homer, but I actually like the way this looks. I'm picturing a similar shade of hammertone paint, sandblasting these scripts and painting them black. To me, it's kind of a throwback to the T Bird valve covers of the late 50s early 60s.

Well, I went and did it. Me and the wifey went on a day road trip and I bought two passenger covers. Gonna make them for better or worse. Going to cut one tube down for the push cap, the other tube gets removed completely and a Pcv grommet put in it's place. It will either work, or it won't.

PS. Buccees is sort of cool!

This is the passenger side. I removed the tube and put grommet c7az-6892 in it's place. Will also silicone it in. I'm kind of starting to like the black color. I smoothe out the bottom of the emblems, and one pic is of the emblems the way it is, the other is the inner lettering blacked out. I also started thinking about how I'm going to run the Pcv hose. Since the Edelbrock card has the fitting in front, I'm down to two ideas: bending some tubing around the left hand side across the back, and straight into the valve with a short hose, or custom bend some hose and run it right down the driver's side.

I think you’re on to something, I like the thought of gun metal grey on the covers and inside the script with the chrome polished up.

Those covers will fit roller rockers as well,

I can see a pair with the Mustang fender script

I like the Galaxie on the valve covers, and painting the inner portion black would be a great nice enhancement.
Maybe I’m looking at this wrong, but if this the passenger side valve cover, and the carb has the PCV tube in the front, wouldn't this make a short hose run to the carb?
Note that Gates makes “90 degree molded hose” in several sizes including 3/8”, that might work for you.

Yeah I meant drivers side. So It will be in the back of the drivers side. I thought it might be interesting to try to bend my own hose before I buy some prebent.
