Arrived home safely at 1am eastern.

6380 miles round trip with visits to family and friends.

Handful of problems.

With help from friends, I was able to press on regardless.

Made some great memories too.

Colors are peaked if anyone wants to see them here in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Congrats Lt, that’s an impressive mileage for one trip, memories to remember for a lifetime. A testament to your car and skills!

This is what the bash trip was created for. Do your homework, make ship-shape improvements to your car and hit the road.
Anyone who has inspected Dan’s car can see he put in the proper effort to make the car roadworthy.
Congratulations on making a 6,000+ mile road trip.


Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Rudi, I am not a story teller like others I know.

However, here is the Cliff notes version.

Kansas:  Minor tire damage in rear due to rough railroad crossing and loaded trunk of tools and full size spare.

Colorado:  Bypassed heater at Bullet Bob’s at my convenience instead of on side of the highway due to seepage since Kansas.

California:  Hit a cut out “pothole” on the inside edge in the lane in a short tunnel on interstate at full speed.  No flat, pulling, or any kind of steering problems.  At next stop, saw the damage to front left hand wheel.

Various locations:  Long tube header and oil pan self clearancing modifications.

Unknown location:  A volcano size lump of hardened black top piled in slow lane…”bump stop checker/oil pan remover.”  I was able to avoid most it, thankfully.  No damage, just a reminder to stay alert.

Wow that’s quite a ding, did you put the spare on?
Me, I have never carried a sprare for years and luckily never hit a pot hole that bent a rim.
Years ago on a  long trip  a buddy with a 67 and 17” rims did the same as you, he had no spare and had to wait two days for a replacement rim .
Over all I think you done good for that kind of mileage.

After a close inspection, it was the outer edge only tweeked.

Inside edge was still straight.

The bead appeared to be fine.

Spare was ready if needed.

Inspected the wheel at each stop/fill up.

Minor issues compared to what other folks had during their trip.
