Remember when a bash meant staying up late to get somebody’s car together so they could make it home?
Ramses’ red car and Sal’s coupe. We stripped parts off Ramses’ car to get Mike’s fixed.

From 2011 Bash, at my shop.

Who are all these young guys???

Hate to disagree butt (TS&T) I believe that was 2010, Ovilla Bash, Mikes crappy Grant horn switch...our first Bash and back when Sal would drive his car to the Bash.
2011 was Daze Bash in Kalispell, as I recall.
Not that any of this make a dang bit o' difference.

Yup - Daze - 2011. I remember Glen's car getting an alignment by Hakan while BB was doing some electrical work. One of the Bash's in Ovilla was where Mike's car got some heavy maintenance from the "Board of Experts" who attended.

This is why I'll trailer mine to my first bash event. Afraid of breaking down. But it's nice to know you guys stick together and help each other out.

Trailers ain't allowed at a Bash. Roseanne's maiden voyage was Bako to Ft Walton Beach Florida. Broke down in West Monroe Louisiana where I made new friends and memories. Fixed the 69 and drive home.

The purpose of the bash is to have a place to drive your car a decent distance.

Just do your work on it at home so you don’t have to do it on the side of the interstate.

Ft. Walton Beacb Bash is where I almost lost my nuts...UCA nuts, that is. Thanks to RV6, RPM, and Josh-K-Bob, we found the problem, semi-fixed it and finished the trip to Tubo's. I did not know you could carry that many tools in a 69 FB...but RPM proved that you can. He must have had 2000 lb overload spring in the rear of that thing.
No trailer Bob!! Get in on the road and run a thousand miles or so on it. If it hangs together, it's good to go. Goofy stuff can happen but that's life. I took the heap to NE and back in May, drove it all over the place through the summer and then to Bako with no problems. Then it crapped out in the middle of LA on the way home. Shxx happens. Deal with it. Just be as ready as you can be and go. You'll be glad you did.

Amen to that MS. Lesson learned the hard way. Be sure to thoroughly road test a new build. Thrash and drive didn't work for me (or Bob or Dan who lost a ton of sleep tryin' to get me back on the road.) Carb problems, wiring issues and more. I'm still fighting gremlins a couple months beyond the Bash. When she decides to cooperate, she does run strong.

3am in Goshen was memorable but not awesome.

I remember that night well !!!!!
I remember Glen was a GREAT help (Please note the expression on his face in the picture)
He was the "power-on...power-off man !!!
After it got fixed I slept a couple hours and followed BILLY WALTON all the way back to 'Hot-lanter', Georgee Skrate-thru !

Yeah…
I fixed it and Glen got the credit for working on it in the driveway for two hours.

West Monroe was known to me only because of the DD. My daughter was a huge fan of the show so I saw a bunch of episodes. One of the main guys' daughter Sadie Robertson has a podcast my daughter has listened to for years. Bob rarely expounds, so the story was that he broke down in West Monroe, the young gal on the AAA tow line was engaging and helpful, said she'd hook Bob up with her best guy (former mechanic.) That was fortunate, the driver/mechanic took Roeseanne (and Bob) to a NAPA where the driver and the counterman were more than helpful in researching and finding a solid temporary solution. RPM tried to generously cash tip the fellas but they declined.

Say whaaat? Hahaha! That was pretty dern close to what happened. Your accounts of my stories are always more colorful and entertaining, so I'll only add a few thoughts. I was aware that Duck Dynasty was filmed in West Monroe, and my main concern was being bent over for any repair work as Roseanne has California plates. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every person I dealt with the were kind and went out of their way for me. By driving across our great country, you really learn that there are mostly nice people everywhere. The cost of repairs was well worth meeting the people of West Monroe.

In 1969 I had the oldest car in school. I had spent the summer rebuilding it up from a body off frame project. Including painting it in and out with new upholstery and top. Overhauling the engine and front suspension. The day of the first start of the engine a friend and I took off for Nevis, MN on the 8th Crow Wing Lake from Tucson AZ on the first of August. Before we got out of town the engine quit because a nut fell off the coil. Stripping the wire and wrapping it around the coil lug, we were on the road again. Two weeks later driving back home. A week after that I turned around and drove to Milwaukee WI non stop, 32 hours. On that trip I ran out of gas outside of Deming NM on the way to Hatch at around 2 in the morning. There were no gas stations open at that time in the morning. I flagged down a car and it turned out to be a high school friend driving that car. After catching up and gas I was back on the road. It was a 55 T-Bird.
On the trip home from the Vandailia bash the roll pin on the distributor gear broke. The group with us stopped and we were back on the road in no time. Today I was driving the 70 Mustang convert to the airport and turned unto the access road to the airport. As I accelerated down the road and shifted into 4th, the clutch slipped big time. I went back through the rest of them, it's shot. It would have happened on this bash trip had we been able to go. We would have had to join Vicky and Don on the trailer back home. There is no way to know when when a break down is going to happen. Weather it is human error or defective parts. Most people that stop are very friendly and helpful. The help on the road is an amazing God send.
