Sick and tired of unplugging every wire and bulb from the back of your 1965/1966 instrument cluster just to get it out? And then to have to plug each one back in to put the cluster back in? Me too.

So, go to the local electronic store and get yourself a harness plug with the pins. In fact, get 2 of them. And with a little time and effort you too can put harness plugs into the dash harness. In fact, I used an old butchered dash harness to start with and cut the instrument cluster portion off the old harness. I used this piece of the old harness to make the first part of the harness and then put 2 harness plugs on it it. I then wrapped the wires nicely in their own wire wrap and tie wrapped them neatly to the back of the cluster with just the harness plugs dangling off the back.

Then with the original in-dash harness I cut the instrument cluster wires close to the cluster to leave them a little longer and then put the 2nd half of the harness plugs on these wires. Now I can easily plug together and unplug the cluster with enough  extra wire to pull the cluster out far enough to early reach behind and unplug the harness plugs. Just like the later years.

You don't need a water tight connector under the dash. I bought a pre wired 12 pin connector on line for under ten bucks. It came with 8" wires in 12 colors prewired. I cut the wires at about 2" on one end and used the long end to wire the gauges. Matched the short end to the appropriate wires on the car.
