Gentlemen,
When I install new taillight panel........
1) I will reinstall trunk lid first.
2) Plan to install ratchet strap from Convertible well brace to fuel filler hole.
3) Trying to duplicate the slight curve in top of panel ( replacement seems to arrow straight)
4) Will weld to center trunk support when trunk lid closes correct.
I am asking for any input from y'all don't what to mess this up

Feel free to advise
Thanks
Cman

Ya know JK, I really hate to criticize cman66's very long & hard work...it certainly looks like in the beginning he did some extraordinary restoration here.

But being that I'm a out spoken sort of guy, I have to point out that his last photo shows disapointing progress. It just doesn't seem like it's coming together correctly....can't put my finger on it exactly, but it seems, er, off.

Ya know cman66, we all do those dumb a__ things...don't let it bother u.

PS. I admire u'r dedication in sticking to a very long & arduous project (something I would never have the guts to try)...enjoy it soon!

Don't the mods think this thread should really be posted in the Tech section...it's kind of hidden here.

My last post was May 2019.
Shortly after that time I began a series of health issues.
Won't bore you guys with the details.
I have not been able to work on my car until now.
Began by finishing the left side interior door corner.
Can anyone suggest a rust proofing product that will be ok to topcoat with ppg epoxy primer.
Thanks

I was ok when we posted with tinypic.
I just can't seem to figure out the latest process.
It's just me , I see others post photos all the time.
You know one day I will learn all the dance steps,
then ya'll will be sick of the pictures of Ol Paint .

Repairs to left door latch mounting dimples.
All dimples were broken out and door had a repair plate glued in this area.
Salvaged some dimples from used door, welded in place with extra door latch locating dimples.

PS Thanks Rudi for the photo tutorial

The last floor pan patch that I can access from inside the passenger compartment.
This spot rotted from water and heat. ( conv top leak and dual exhaust muffler )
I have two small spots that need to be addressed from under car.                                                              Well the underside will soon face up, 'Ol Paint ready for rotisserie now.

Just a little update on ol paint.
Purchased repop outer wheel houses, cut them to repair panels.
Prepped each panel and install.
Don't sound that hard no.
required 8 hrs to cut sand and prime parts.
this front outer whell house ate up about three more hrs to fit and weld into place.
Not complaining, love working on my car need more hrs in the day

The repop quarters are horrible .
I have cut them into repair sections.
Ya'll know the areas that the tin ants infest.
It's a shame replacement parts are not stamped to the same quality as originals were.

I agree, all aftermarket parts just suck IMO. I should have kept all my original sheet metal and used the aftermarket parts for patch panels! Lesson learned on the next build.

70 Coupe
I would love to build another project.
Have my eye on a '68 F-100 that's been sitting for at least 5 years.
But at the rate I'm going on Ol Paint I need to live to 100.

Began fitting the quarter panel patches in front of wheel opening.
Kind of has that rat rod vibe with the screws and overlapping panel .
Maybe I,ll just prime the edges and call it good.

Well " that all folk's " for the left side quarter front repair.
Now some epoxy primer and the door braces and  I can FINALLY lift to rotisserie.
I know I have been threatening to put Ol Paint on rotisserie for over a year.
But " This time for sure"
