Been noticing that the new Scott Drake gas cap on my 1966 does not vent enough. Went for a 45 minute drive today and when I stopped for gas the gas cap was hissing like it was letting a little air into the gas tank. When I unsrewed the cap there was a tremendous whooshing letting air into the gas tank. Seems as though the venting in the cap is not good enough to equalize the pressures. I took the gas cap apart and it seems to be working as designed. Anybody else have this problem?

You don't say, so I'll ask...are you runnng EFI, Keith? And, are you posiive the pressure in the tank was negative? My stock 66 cap has will vent "in" but it will not vent pressure out. Ever see a fuel tank that looks like a beach ball? I have. They weld those seams pretty well, I guess.

No EFI. It was sucking air into the gas tank, so negative pressure in tank. I don't think there's a large enough of a vent in the gas cap(new Scott Drake). I have an old original gas cap laying around. I am going to put that back on and see how well that one works.
