dwell angle

Hi again ,
I got this unsolved question : when you running pertonix ignitor ( the simple one , point/breaker change ) , the dwell angle and dwell angle meter , comes useless right ? Or is still need to make regulation on distributor ?
as the new one is magnetic i say no , but i want expert opinion ,
Thank you !

Re: dwell angle

By moving the Pertonix unit around we noticed years ago that you could change the dwell, but Pertronix specifies that you use the gap tool they provide, so I've always just set it per instructions and not worried about the ability to alter the dwell.

Re: dwell angle

Dual points was a good test of your patience. Modern electronic took the fun out of it (not really). It's hard to make it not work....

Re: dwell angle

I recently came into possession of a Heath Kit tach and dwell meter. It's a very cool looking relic of the past but absolutely useless. I have it sitting out in my shop as a conversation piece.

I remember listening to my neighbor's Dad talk about putting a little piece of windshield washer hose behind the points to prevent bounce at high RPM in cars that were raced.  Whatever it took I guess, man I'm glad technology has improved...
