Re: need quick reply on short throw shifter t5

Pro 5.0 only.  The Summit one is a knock off of the Steeda Tri-Ax made in China.  All aluminum shifters don't last long; they wear out.  The Pro 5.0 in my '67 was in my buddies '95 Cobra for five years, my '89 GT for 10, and now my '67 for 3.  Never used gently.  I took it apart to check it and couldn't find any wear in it at all.  Put fresh grease in it and put it back together.  More expensive at first, but its the last one you'll ever buy.

Ditto on Pro 5.0
Good shifter, but may cause you to have to trim the shifter hole in the tunnel a bit.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Definitely.  If installed from below the stop bolts will interfere.  If trying to install it from above you will have to make the hole a lot bigger, but that's any T5 shifter due to where the bolts are.

What extra parts or how do you seal it to keep the dirt out of it from under the car?

Re: need quick reply on short throw shifter t5

Allesandro,  I have heard nothing but great things about the Pro 5.0, but never had one.  I have had genuine Steeda TriAxe shifters on a 99 Cobra, an 04 CTS-V, and we currently have one on the T56 in jr's 66.  Really love them.

Because I did not want to enlarge the shifter hole in my 65, I bought an OEM Ford T5 shifter. Fits fine, and shifts like you would expect a stock item to function.  It has the stock lower boot to cover the shift mechanism, and the stock 65 shift boot finishes off the interior look.  I'm not overly concerned about road grime getting to the shifter, as I only drive it on nice days.

Rubber floor seal for a Fox car.  Can be used with or without the metal support ring.  These are readily available reproduced.

I bought the boot, looking at it, it looks like it will keep the dust and dirt out of the car but how does it keep the dust and dirt out of the tranny, the shifter specifically?

Re: need quick reply on short throw shifter t5

The Pro 5.0s are sealed with the floor boot.  It seems like the open design would be problematic, but I've had them full of metal shavings in service for years and on disassembling them found zero wear.  The grease seems to trap the contaminants at the top.  It looks worrisome, but the debris never migrates into the working parts of the shifter.
