I'm in Dallas area... Anyone have a fender roller I can borrow?
Don't want to spend $60 bucks on something I'll only use once.
BTW, I have one of those FastTrax wheel alignment tools if anyone needs to borrow it.

so... I am not a body guy , and I have had my fenders rolled by a shop so all this I am saying is not first hand .. and take it as you may ..
the Fender rollers dont work well at all on these car panels as they are built for a lot thinner more malleable metal on the modern vehicles, and all the fender rolling is done usually with patience and a hammer. The fender rollers tend to break when used on this metal..
THats what the shop had to do on my fenders, And I can feel it on the inside when they did that.. All while being very careful not to crack the paint..

Are you trying to roll the fronts or rears? The rears are double thickness and like Gaba states, I had a heck of a time with my Eastwood roller. Eastwood does state that it is not intended for double thickness. The front fenders should be OK - I am a few months away from rolling the fronts. But some people prefer a large wooden dowel or a wooden baseball bat. Is your body painted? I will be in Arlington next week (mid-week) and you are welcome to borrow my Eastwood unit but I would need it shipped back to Colorado when you are finished. Let me know.

Trying to roll the front spacers. The wheel/tire size is at the absolute max with spacers and I get just a slight rub when I turn the wheel at full range.
Amazon has the eastwood rollers at $60 bucks. Probably cost as much to ship it back. thanks though.

The rollers do work well on the front, but take a generous amount of patience on the rear to get a little. The ball bat trick does work on rear, but takes an army and patience. We did one at the track with ball bat and at least 6 other people to get enough weight on corner of car and get it to roll back and forth first with one person for dead weight then two and three...….

The rollers work great on Mustangs. Kinda like heating and massaging the lips rather than bending them all at once.
It’s not 100% but it’s better than sledgehammer-ing an already-painted fender or quarter. (Yeah, tried that...please don’t)
I’m in McKinney and if you stop by, you can borrow mine. (97two-eightonesix800nine) The car lift is empty at the moment.

Fantastic man. I think we're going to head up north this weekend to see some lights. I'll shoot you a text. Appreciate it.
REMEMBER!!! When posting a question about your Mustang or other Ford on this forum, BE SURE to tell us what it is, what year, engine, etc so we have enough information to go on. |
