Thinking of going with Aftermarket steering wheel. Please post some

pics of your steering wheels.  I have a 69 Mustang wheel that's cracked and has issues.  They want $600
to restore the wheel but could take 3 to 6 months to restore it.   Here's a partial pic of it.  reggae names for baby boy

Bob has the same wheel that I have. Seems to work well.

If you have power steering you can get away with just about anything.  If you have manual steering I would be real picky about what I used.  A lot of the aftermarket wheels are really too flimsy for manual steering duty.

I personally like the wood wheel look.  I just don't like it enough for the cost of one.  Maybe some day.

Re: Thinking of going with Aftermarket steering wheel. Please post some

I'm not a snob but not very many aftermarket wheels appeal to me. Usually the ones that do are way out of my league. Mustangs Unlimited is going out of business and they're blowing stuff out their doors. I picked up the same Sebring LeCara style wheel Bearing Bob posted for $85 and free shipping.

Steve 69  all I can see is the steering wheel COVER!!  Before trashing your old wheel................take a look on the H.A.M.B. com website. Seems there were several guys who re-furb'ed their old wheels. Since nothing on there is any newer than 65............lotsa old cars get restored at home.
Check-it-out!

PS................FYI FORD  MustangSteve.com is still better though.

Ya Steve, the cost of a refurbished wheel turned me off to that. One thing about mine I didn't care for was its flat design, which moved the wheel further away from the driver. I installed a spacer which helped some.

This an old picture but I still have the steering wheel on the vehicle. It is a Grant but not a cheap one, cost was over 150 bucks a lot of years ago. I had to do some mods to the mounting hub to get the turn signals to work but the wheel itself is leather covered and very solid.

That it is.  I’ve got that exact one in the garage waiting for the mustang to be ready.  I have to say the build quality and finish is absolutely top notch- finish on the wood is like what you would see on a fine Shotgun

Here is a video of an aftermarket steering wheel torture test genuine vs knockoff...
Like others have said, be careful with what and where you purchase.

I do not have a lot to add to this, but in my searches for aftermarket wheels I've found that you need to be careful and consider the quality in case you have an accident. There's pics floating around where the ring separates from the inside portions of the wheel in an accident. Long way of saying, don't cheap out!

I have the same wheel on my 68, Rudi, but it was a straight bolt on with no mods to the turn signal system. It is a nice solid wheel though. With my 96 seats, this wheel fits me better than the original, bigger, non-power steering wheel.  This one, coupled with the Borgeson power steering mod, works very well for me.

As does mine with EPAS. certainly would not want a small wheel like this for manual steering unless you had arms like the Rock

Same wheel I have in my '86 IROC.  Its good quality, but if the power steering is out you have to be careful because its aluminum an can be tweaked if you really have to hoss on the wheel.
