Who Can Tell Me "How to install 67/68 Overhead Console" ???

Looking for some clear Visual or written instructions on how to install my overhead console in my 68.....

there does not seem to be a lot out there!...….the car is fully restored already with a new headliner, I know I have to make cuts, but to install these brackets, do I have to drop the Headliner (hoping not)?

Im not a rookie to fixing, building and modifying so don't hesitate to have me do things...……

regards,
Jeff

Re: Who Can Tell Me "How to install 67/68 Overhead Console" ???

Going from memory, it seems like the rear view mirror bracket can be used to help locate the console bracket. I don't have any pictures from my car for reference. Seems like there were 2 screws on the outside edge of the bracket that will get mounting screws into the roof panel on the car. If those holes are narrower than the console, then you have a good chance of making a slit in the head liner to insert the bracket. Those screws to hold it would have to go through the head liner, but should be hid by the console. I have a coupe, so no back bracket. It screwed into the lip by the rear glass.

It looks like the fastback requires a bracket, which I know nothing about the install.

The only things I know are that the fastback needs two brackets, the coupe only one and there has to be electrical going to it as well.
Maybe CJ Pony or NPD has a video.

Alright well I have both brackets, I need to know how to install them. Do they go on top of the Headliner, or behind it???

Do I have to drop the headliner, or can I cut and insert?

There is Little to 0 literature on this.

Anyone have photos or a decent way to describe how to install these brackets?
