This is for all you Engine Gurus who know more than me

After changing the Intake Manifold from a Chinese (pro products) which worked great no issues
And isnstalling  Edelbrock 7121 Rpm Performer My car runs like crap and will hardly idle When as before the Lumpy cam noise and exhaust note was Awesome,Heres my Mild Engine Build sheet Fro when the engine was done Previous owner

8-030" sealed power flat top pistons
sealed power moly rings
M68A Oil Pup
Liberty 3 Pc Double Roller Timing Chain
Comp cams Retro Hydraulic Roller camshaft Kit 512-221duration part#31-432-8
Scorpian 1.6 Rocker Arms
Pro Comp Aluminium Heads, 202 -160  Stainless Valves
Chrome molly Retentions
Pioneer Crankshaft Balancer

Quick fuel SS Super Street 650CFM Carb(is this carb too much for my 289 mild build?(have all the specs and jets#s etc)
Headman Elite Headers

timing and everything else seems fine.
Bottom line i wish id never touched it as it ran flawlessly, and sounded great. It runs fairly well on hwy with a slight hesitation that it never had before has tons of pulling power from take off but i have to use 2 pedals at the lights cause it idles so bad, and im worried about damage to Transmission in stop and go traffic 1966 mustang 289 mild build C4 Rebuilt
It also never had the Vacum advance line was always plugged at distributor and carb,But ran worse till i put a vacum hose on as should be with the new Edelbrock intake.

Any thoughts advice,if its not the Carb ive screwed up somewhere

If truly all you did was change the intake manifold and the car now runs like poo, it is a pretty good chance you have a vacuum leak. First things first, check and make sure there are no open vacuum ports which need to be plugged. If that checks out then you may have a leak between the manifold and the heads. I'm not sure if this is still considered safe, but I always used to hunt down exhaust leaks by squirting starter fluid all around the likely leak spots while the engine was running. When the engine revs, you've found your leak.

220/220@050 duration with a 110* LSA the cam is healthy butt-knot what you could call radical.(in my oppinion) The other poster hit it on the head I think.......vacuum leak somewhere. Check around the base of the carb.....common place to "suck". Also the intake ports.
What about the PCV?   Gas is fresh?
Should be able to idle in gear at stop light cam ain't that big.
Just work one area at the time. Once there is zero vacuum leaks...THEN start messing with other things.

Better to use propane than starter fluid.  Just take a torch (unlit) and run it around every where to determine where there might be a leak.  I had that happen to me once with an Edlebrock intake with a Ford 1" PCV spacer.  Turns out that the carb was hitting the screw clamp that I used to hold the PCV hose to the spacer nipple.  The propane brought it to light.

I have Summit's 600 cfm street/strip carb on my 393 stroker. I really like it, does everything it is advertised to do.

Edelbrock carbs just don't look right on a Ford!
The 4100 clone is the way to go IMO.

Found this thorough review of the Summit carb a little while ago, pictures have gone missing from the post but it's still a good read:

I think I'm gonna run one on the used 5.0 roller I'm freshening up to replace my tired old 289 until I have the time & dollars to build a 331 EFI the way I want to.
