New chapter in my life

I am officially retired. Or just plan tired, not really sure yet. So I have more time than money to do any and all the things I think I mite want to do.

Well congratulations! Your days will fly by so fast  you'll soon ask yourself how you ever got anything done when you were working.

Oh so true.
It’s 20 years since I left JD and I am still doing things that have been waiting to get done. I spent the last few days adding additional point of use 110 and 220 V outlets so I wouldn’t be tripping over extension cords.
Thing is, as the years add on it takes much longer getting things finished.

Re: New chapter in my life

Welcome to the “ more time less money” life style. Now is when you learn how to do stuff that you have paid others to do in the past. It’s also a time to get in the habit of cruising the neighborhood on trash night. That’s where I find metal for car projects, etc.

Re: New chapter in my life

Congrats Cab4word67!  I really am the kid on these boards aren't I?  I'm at best 20-25 years from retirement if ever.  My wife could retire in I think 11 or 12 years on full pension if she wants to.  No such thing for the self employed.  I've gotta keep going after it until I get enough rentals to where I don't need the money from the construction company any more.

Re: New chapter in my life

42 until December.  Doubt I'll really retire even when I can.  I'll just do different things.

Re: New chapter in my life

Congratulations!!!

My retirement goal is to draw those retirement checks longer than I actually worked for the company.   Hope you have many years left to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

Re: New chapter in my life

Congrats! Welcome to the club. I'm a newby at this retirement thing - just retired in February after 36 years as an aircraft mechanic for Alaska Airlines. I will admit, not getting up at 4:30 every morning and a daily 80 mile commute is a plus. This damned virus thing put a damper on my plans for doing some traveling and also many car club activities have been cancelled. We had to cancel our big four day Roundup show that we put on every year. You will at least have the time now to do all the honey-do's that have been stacking up.
My son lives in Gresham and I haven't seen my new granddaughter since early March. I hear that Oregon is spiking with virus cases  now. Stay safe and work on your Mustang.

Five years for me now. Best advice, have a plan and develop a daily routine.
