Re: More power to my 351c :-)

Most reputable engine builders will tell you that if you need to move the cam more than 4 degrees you need a different cam.  I greatly prefer to just install the right cam straight up.  This is also why I confer with the cam's tech department before ordering.

I'd stick with the dual plane on the stroker.  That mid range torque is where you need it most and that difference is too much to ignore.

Re: More power to my 351c :-)

Another point is some cams are already advance. The ol skool one I use is already 5 deg. advance, but I always check their word. Then I add 2 for future chain slack, which comes quick.
I'm getting confused.
You say it's for a D driver, then next you would like to make your nose bleed.

Drag racing 101.1 Smoking tyres off the line hardly never win a race.
101.2 The guy with the most $ usually wins.

Re: More power to my 351c :-)

If you want more get up and go for a heavy car your best option is the stroker.  Nothing builds low end torque like cubic inches, except for a roots type blower.

As for racing, I agree that the launch is everything.  A 0.10 reduction in the 60' time is worth a 0.2 reduction or more in your 1/4 mile ET.  That's how critical it is to get off the line efficiently.

Money can certainly win races at the professional level.  At the amateur level though I find money is a poor replacement for knowledge and skill.
