5.0 conversion power drain issue

This is not Mustang but it is in the same family. I just bought a 94 Ranger with a 5.0 conversion from a Ford explorer (engine, trans and rear) .
Truck runs good but it has a drain on the battery when it sits. The first thing I found when hooking up the NEW battery I could hear a relay click (ignition off). On top of the throttle body the throttle position sensor clicks when the battery is connected. I believe this should only power up with ignition.
Any help with this issue, i.e. what wires to trace or if it should be hot.

I believe that photo is of the Idle Air Bypass solenoid, not the TPS.  The IAB takes Vehicle power from the EEC power relay when the key is turned to Run.  Since I have no idea what the PO used for the EEC power I will just say that that relay could be stuck and is constantly providing 12 v to the IAB.  There could be a relay box called a CCRM (Constant control relay module) that contains the EEC relay and AC relay and Fuel pump relay.  Or....they could have just installed separate Bosch type relays for these functions. 
I recommend you obtain the proper wiring diagrams for the Explorer EEC-V control system and see if you can determine how that engine has been boot-legged in there.

Edit:  If you can ID the CCRM (about 3X3" or 3X4) you can try plugging in a replacement.  Ford used these in everything as far as I know from 94 on.  There should be an ID stampped on the back (R something as I recall) and you can probably find a replacement in most boneyards.  In the 94-95 Stang it was mounted up near the radiator on the core support.

If memory serves me correctly, the IAC is constantly changing position which is controlled by the ecm.

On-off-on-off....constantly during operation.

They will get clogged up.
Try cleaning it up and see if it changes.
Start with simple and easy.

I’m not familiar with the EEC-V...yet.
