    Factory exhaust manifolds

    What factory exhaust manifolds can be used on a 65 w/289-302?
    What about 351w?

    Stock 65-66
    Hipo

    Any others?

    I think these were on "some" FoMoCo models back-in-the-day!  Flowed pretty durn good fer factory IF I recall co-wreckly! (pun intended!)

    These were for a "space-limited" application. Pretty sure FoMoCo stuff!

    I believe the Shelbys came with a 4-into-2-into-1 tubular exhaust manifold.  Anyway, they were around early on.

    As to a 351w, only a tubular manifold will work.  Stock 351w's had huge manifolds.  no way would they fit in a 65-66

    351w for Mustang chassis, 289 and 302, for Mustang chassis.  I have put 351w with stock Mustang 1969-70 manifolds in a 65.

    289 hipo manifolds fit in 65 but with use of 66 motor mounts.

    Money you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted money... unless your wife finds out.

    This type of information is not mentioned very often if ever.

    Answers usually go straight to headers.


    Any idea about late model manifolds that come on trucks and earlier crown vics?

    That's amazing!  I must have seen the wrong years' manifold.  They weighed 20-30 lb each and would not fit in my car at all.  I measured, too.  Or did you put 65-66 manifolds in?  I'm unclear.

    I can understand same manifold to respective engine in mustang chassis.

    Will the Hipo’s fit 351 in mustang chassis?

    Non-Mustang manifolds typically angle outward at the collector where the Mustang manifolds angle downward.  So the Galaxy and truck have issues, although I have not tried every manifold.
    351w came out in 1969.. the 69-70 manifolds do fit either the small block 289 or 302 or the 351w In a Mustang chassis.

    I would assume  IF they fit a 289HP in a Mustang ......you would be golden with a 260-289-302-5.0-351W  mill.  (note the use of "really hip" term when describing an engine!!)

    Bad assumption on the 351c. Those for sure are not going to fit ANY Cleveland in ANY vehicle. 
    I am not 100% sure about the 351w using hipo manifolds In a 65-66, as I have not done it myself.  They would be more restrictive than stock 69-70 351w manifolds, anyway.

    Years ago, on a friend's 65 Mustang w/351W, we re-installed the 289 stock exhaust manifolds until he could afford headers.   Had to grind off the small "nabs" on the manifolds to clear the stock towers.  As the 351W sits higher, we also did some manipulation to fit the exhaust piping from the manifolds.

    65 Fastback, 351W, 5-speed, 4 wheel discs, 9" rear,  R&C Front End.
