Steve69, my first BRAND NEW CAR was a 1979 COBRA Mustang with a 2.3L turbo.
Your pic brought back memories!

That's Awesome!   Im surprised you didn't go with the 5.0?   I heard the 2.3 turbo were fast off the line though!   Of all my cars this was one of my favorites!  Drove nice and went like hell!...LOL

Re: Classic Vehicles and Reliability

No thanks
I failed to mention I kept that car six months and traded it off.  It was a total piece of garbage!  Ever had a rear shock fall off a brand new car?

Re: Classic Vehicles and Reliability

No shocks but my brother had a brand new 2011 F350 right from the dealer that developed a rear end howl at 8K and when they inspected it the dif was full of water. no oil what so ever like it had only been filled with water from the factory.  They tried to say it went off road but then realized that this didn't happen because out of the last 10 owned and serviced by them, none had ever seen anything but pavement so they warranty it.

Slammed Big Blue, ran over the varmints that messed with the Stang. Now all is good in the NW

Re: Classic Vehicles and Reliability

I reckon based on those stories, an old classic can definitely be as trustworthy as a new car for reliability
